Insurance Fraud Investigation
“The claim does not add up. You need to know whether it is genuine before you pay it, and evidence that holds if you decline it.”

Insurance fraud investigation establishes whether a claim reflects what actually happened. It is instructed when the paperwork is plausible but something does not fit: an injury that does not match observed activity, a loss that cannot be substantiated, or a claims history that raises questions. The output is evidence, not opinion, so the claim can be settled, negotiated or declined on fact.
What We Do
Claims Validation Surveillance
Observed evidence of a claimant's actual activity and capability, documented against the limitations described in the claim.
Claimant Background Enquiries
Lawful checks on history, connections, employment and previous claims activity that give context to the current claim.
Evidence for Claims Decisions
Findings documented to a standard that supports repudiation, negotiation or defence of a claim in proceedings.

Why ASE
Proportionate By Default
Enquiries scoped to the specific doubt about the claim, so the work stays defensible and cost stays controlled.
Lawful Method
Evidence gathered through observation and lawful sources only, so it survives scrutiny rather than undermining your position.
Claim-Ready Reporting
Reports written for claims handlers and legal teams, setting out what was observed, when, and what it means for the claim.
Discretion Throughout
Work carried out without alerting the claimant, protecting both the evidence and your position if the claim proves genuine.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do insurance companies investigate claims?+
Insurers start with the claim file itself: consistency of the account, medical or repair evidence, and claims history. Where doubt remains, they instruct external investigators to establish the facts through observation and lawful background enquiries, because an internal file review cannot show what a claimant actually does day to day.
Do insurance companies use private investigators?+
Yes, routinely, and usually where a claim cannot be resolved on the paperwork alone. Investigators are instructed to establish facts, not to build a case against the claimant. A properly run investigation is just as likely to confirm a claim is genuine.
What evidence actually proves a fraudulent claim?+
Evidence that directly contradicts the claim as stated. Observed activity inconsistent with a declared limitation, documentation showing a loss did not occur as described, or connections that reveal a coordinated claim. It must be gathered lawfully and recorded with a clear account of what was seen and when.
Is surveillance of a claimant lawful?+
It can be, where it is necessary and proportionate to a genuine dispute about a claim, carried out in public, and limited to what is relevant. It is not a licence for indiscriminate monitoring. We advise on what is proportionate before any work begins.
How long does a claims investigation take?+
It depends on what is in doubt. A background and records enquiry can be turned around quickly. Surveillance needs enough time to be representative rather than a snapshot, which usually means several days spread to reflect normal activity.
